Welcome new Specialist: Theresa H. Rodgers, MA, CCC-SLP, BCS-CL, EdSp, F-ASHA
Theresa H. Rodgers has excelled in the area of child language and language disorders since her graduate experiences at Louisiana State University. A graduate assistant who assisted in supervision of the university’s child language clinical services, she continued to acquire expertise in this clinical area through completion of an Education Specialist’s degree in learning disabilities. Recognized as an expert in child language and learning disorders early in her career, Rodgers was the SLP asked to serve in the 80s with other educational leaders in her school system on the Dyslexia Study Committee. As a full-time SLP diagnostician for the school system, Rodgers was assigned (as the language-learning disability expert) to conduct language evaluations for the multidisciplinary teams in her district. Her expertise was also recognized by the Louisiana Department of Education in appointing Rodgers to multiple state task force groups over the course of her career in the public schools. She achieved the positions of coordinator of speech-language-hearing services, special education coordinator, and supervisor of special education. Rodgers’ leadership skills are also widely recognized including her service as ASHA President in 2020. Frequently asked to serve as a consultant in the area of language-based learning disabilities, Rodgers continues to participate in advanced level continuing education focused on this critical clinical area.
