Barbara Goodson, MS, CCC-SLP, F-ASHA, BCS-CL, is recently retired with over 37 years of experience as a school-based SLP. She currently works as a Private Consultant and as a Lecturer at Southern Illinois University – Edwardsville. She holds a Professional Educator License from the Illinois State Board of Education, with endorsements in speech and language, elementary and early childhood education. She is deeply committed to enhancing educational outcomes for children. Barbara serves as an Adjunct Professor in the areas of language development, language disorders, early literacy, and special education methodologies. Barbara is passionate about mentorship and regularly guides graduate interns and Clinical Fellows as they embark on their professional journeys in the area of assisting children in successful language intervention in school-based settings.

Barbara served on the AHSA Board of Directors as the Chair of the Speech Language Pathology Advisory Council, and as the first Member at Large in SLP. A graduate of ASHA’s Leadership Development Program and an Affiliate of Special Interest Groups 16, she currently serves on ASHA’s Committee on Nominations and Elections and chaired the Ad Hoc Committee on Leadership Strategy.
